Come celebrate Advent with us as we await the coming of the Christ Child

Advent and Christmas

Advent is a time of waiting and preparation for both the celebration of Jesus's birth at

Christmas and the return of Christ at the Second Coming. Advent begins on November 30 of this year. Each Sunday we will light candles on the Advent wreath and focus on the theme of Hope, Peace, Joy, or Love. On Christmas Eve at our Candle Light Service we will also light the Christ Candle.

We have daily devotionals for adults and children that will be available starting

November 23. They will be on the table at the back of the sanctuary and in the narthex.

Orders for Christmas Poinsettias are being taken now and are due on Nov. 30. The cost for each is $15. Please enclose payment with the order form. If you have questions, call Joyce Kelley.

Here are some dates for your calendar:

Nov. 30 First Sunday of Advent. The Sinks Family will be lighting the candle of Hope.

Following worship we invite everyone to stay and help with Hanging of the

Greens as we decorate the church for Christmas.

Dec. 7 Second Sunday of Advent. Megan and Sam will be lighting the candle of Peace. All Church Christmas Party will follow worship.

Dec. 14 Third Sunday of Advent. Michael and Jeff will be lighting the

candle of Joy. Following worship, pancake brunch will be served and we will have a

special guest speaker Rev. Jeff Langford from the Cooperative Baptist

Fellowship.

Dec. 21 Fourth Sunday of Advent. Bob and Flo will be lighting the candle of Love.

Dec. 24 Christmas Eve Candle Light Service at 7pm. Joyce will be lighting the 4 candles

and the Christ Candle.

Jan. 4 After worship, we will take down and put away Christmas.

Angel Voices

New Sunday School class begins on Nov. 30 at 10:00 a.m.

Five of our folks will be leading five weeks of looking at angel sightings (includes Zechariah, Mary, Joseph, shepherds, Philip and Jesus). References from scripture and Billy Graham’s book Angels: God’s Secret Agents.

Christmas Happenings

Dec. 6 – CWU Fellowship Event; MCL Cafeteria, Kettering, 1:30-3:30; fun

activities, food available, no reservations needed

Dec. 11 – ABWM Christmas Party 6:00 p.m. at Judy Teeters home. Meal will be provided. Please call Judy so she knows how many coming.

Bring two gifts for women shut-ins and two gifts for men.

Bring a white elephant gift for fun gift exchange.

Fall Gathering

On November 9 four from DLABC attended the DABA Fall Gathering at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church in Springfield. We enjoyed a wonderful buffet meal prepared by many hands. Rev. Kent Berghuyis DABA President was the MC. One of the highlights was the AMEN group – four teens doing interpreting dance. We heard from:

● Dayton Christian Center director Yvonne Watkins

● Omega Community Dev. Corp. Rachel Ward

● ABWM of Ohio Flo Smith-Heizer

● Rev. Jeff Perkins read the scripture John 8:31-36

● Pastor Adam Banks of FBC Springfield gave the evening message. He gave message

on “Free In Deed”

The combined choir of participants from all churches was spectacular led by William Henry Caldwell. It was an inspiring evening of fellowship.
