Kid’s Connection

We have some exciting new curriculum for our Kid’s Connection class. Each week there is a story, hands-on things to do, how to apply the lesson to daily life, and something to do at home. It’s easy to teach, so if you’re interested in volunteering to teach a Sunday a month, let Connie know.

Adult Sunday School Class

Pastor Jeff will be leading a 16-week series, “A Progressive Look at Revelation”, starting

January 18, starting at 10 am. The Book of Revelation is a difficult book to read and

understand for most people. Come join us if you’re curious or looking for clarity and

understanding.

Lent and Easter Events and Information

We are in the process of picking a daily devotional for Lent. They will be available starting February 15 in the narthex and in the back of the sanctuary.

Ash Wednesday is February 18. We will be offering Ashes To Go at our drive through event from 5-7pm. Come by on your way home from work or as you head out to dinner and get a blessing from Pastor Jeff as you receive your ashes.

We will soon be taking orders for Easter Lilies to decorate the sanctuary on Easter. Watch for more information in the weekly bulletin and emails.

Children’s Easter Egg Hunt will be March 28 at 2pm. We are collecting plastic eggs, candy and prizes to fill the eggs, and Easter baskets. There will be more info in the March Tie Binder.

Palm Sunday is March 29. Come celebrate Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem.

April 2 is Maundy Thursday and we will have our evening soup and salad dinner and service as we commemorate Jesus’ last supper with his disciples.

April 5 is Easter Sunday. We will have two services on Easter; a 7am Sunrise Service and our regular 11am service. Come join us as we celebrate Christ’s resurrection!

Vision Committee

The vision committee has proposed a vote that Dorothy Lane American Baptist Church dually aligns with the American Baptist Church (ABC-USA) and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF). The vote will be on February 1st. A representative from CBF spoke with our congregation in December. If you would like notes from that meeting you can pick them up in the back of the sanctuary or request a digital version from Connie. If you would like to vote absentee, please contact Connie or Susan. Update: the vote has been rescheduled to Feb. 8.

ABWM

On Thursday, February 12 at 10:00 a.m. all are welcome to come to Fellowship Hall to pack love packets (candy and cookies) for residents at Oaks of West Kettering. Last year we prepared and delivered 108 Valentine treats to residents. All supplies will be on hand.

On Sunday, February 15 we will take an offering for Church World Service Blanket Sunday. For over 75 years CWS has been helping people of faith bring God's hope and healing to people in the U.S. and around the world. When difficult times happen, a kind and loving response can make all the difference. $10 can purchase a CWS wool blanket. Blankets help those in disaster areas and homelessness. Our donations will help "Blanket the world with love!"
