Missions Offerings
“May God’s glory fill the whole earth” Psalm 72:19
Our United Mission purpose is to glorify God in all the earth by crossing
cultural boundaries to make disciples of Jesus Christ. Our United Mission dollars
are distributed with 54% -Regional Ministries, 13% General Ministries, 9%
International Ministries, 7% Educational Ministries, 6% Shared Ministries, 4%
National Ministries, 3%Institutional Ministries, 3% Representation Ministries and
1% Reserve for Ministries.
Four Annual Offerings are taken each year:
● American for Christ Offering – responds to needs of home mission (
includes supporting neighborhood centers like Dayton Christian Center and
Youngstown Heart Reach Ministry) and Puerto Rico. Usually received in
April.
● World Mission Offering are channeled through International Ministries to
support our missionaries around the world – Usually received in October
● One Great Hour of Sharing is our means for directing national and
international funds in times of crisis. Offering received in June; however,
funds can be donated at any time as we are contributing now for Thailand
and Myanmar.
● Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering received in December is a thank
you offering and to respond to emergency needs of retired American Baptist
Ministers and missionaries.
Our mission work began in earnest with Adoniram Judson and wife Ann
Hasseltine in 1810. They ministered to those in Burma which is now Myanmar.
Many people (Karen people) have come to the USA and begun ABC churches
here. They responded to the invitation to “come over and help us”. We still
have missionaries today to answer that call and many have found themselves
needing us to respond to help them.
